My portrait, taken a long time ago.

Hi, I'm David!

Researcher at VIDI, UC Davis

I build systems that leverage deep learning to enable scientific data visualization. My work focuses on the development of high-performance neural rendering systems and virtual reality (VR) visualization applications. I am currently working towards my PhD in Computer Science at VIDi Labs with my advisor Kwan-Liu Ma. I interned at Disney Research where I worked on neural path guiding. Before that I interned at Intel, working on feature extensions to OIDN. Before moving to the U.S., I was involved in multiple projects with topics ranging from cryptocurrencies to deep learning. After graduating from the Vienna University of Technology under Eduard Gröller I worked with ImageBiopsy Lab for about a year. After that I decided to join Kwan-Liu Ma at his VIDi Design Lab at UC Davis.
